Introduction
This character is a high-quality digital recreation of a real-world Russell's Viper. The asset includes model, textures, rigging, and animation. All materials are designed for realistic visual fidelity using the Arnold renderer. The rigging is built based on real skeletal references, ensuring that the animation is in line with natural movements. The project includes a fully rigged character along with 11 irregular animations. This character was created using Maya 2026 at real-world scale, making it suitable for film, animation, and high-end character visualization.
Features
Model Details: The model consists of the body, gums, teeth, pupils, sclerae, tongue, and multiple sets of scales.
Textures and Materials: The asset includes 50 texture maps, all converted to Arnold-compatible .TX format. Multiple 4K-resolution textures and UDIM-based UV layouts are used to ensure the highest level of detail and quality. Both the character and scale materials are designed for realistic rendering using the Arnold renderer.
The Russell’s Viper character comes with two different texture sets: “RussellViper01” and “RussellViper02”. By default, the animation scene uses the “RussellViper01” material. To switch to “RussellViper02”, you can copy the corresponding materials from the rigging file and manually assign them to the model. This setup is ideal for switching appearances or mixing different materials in crowd animations.

Rigging
With detailed controllers, it's easier to create postures and animations, the features are as follows:
CTR_crv_MASTER – controls the entire model. It comes with customized attributes: “DEF_Jnt_Vis”, “MCH_Jnt_Vis”, “Scale_Vis”.
CTR_crv_gravity – controls the body (excluding feet).
CTR_crv_Spine_attr – spine attribute controller with customize attributes:
“IK_FK” switches between IK/FK of the spine;
“IK_Stretch” controls IK stretch limit;
“Stretch_Control_Vis” controls the visibility of secondary stretch controllers.
CTR_crv_tail_attr – tail attribute controller with customized attributes:
“IK_FK” switches between IK/FK of the tail;
“IK_Stretch” controls IK stretch limit;
“Follow_Target” controls whether it follows the hip movements;
“Stretch_Control_Vis” controls the visibility of secondary stretch controllers.
CTR_crv_head – head controller with customized attributes:
“Rotate_Order” controls the rotation order of head controllers;
“Sec_Control_Vis” controls the visibility of secondary facial controllers.
CTR_crv_fangs_exRe – controls fang extension and retraction.
CTR_crv_tongue_pos – root tongue controller.

Specifications
File format: Saved as .mb files by default. It can be saved as .ma files or other formats if necessary.
Version supported: Created with Maya 2026. Maya 2026 or above is recommended for compatibility.
Caveats
By default, Arnold uses GPU as the render device, and the sampling setting is suitable for medium quality output, as is shown in the preview image of the character. If you need a fine-tuned image, you can modify Arnold settings to your hardware limit.
The animation scene comes with Arnold lighting, which can be modified if required.
Except for the above, the character can be rendered directly.
